Another national patent granted

SC_009The new national patent “”Dichlorido complexes of platinum with kinetin derivatives, method of their preparation and use of these complexes as drugs in anticancer treatment” (CZ 305411 B6; inventors: Z. Trávníček, R. Novotná, Z. Dvořák; granted on 2015/08/28) protect the possible application of platinum(II) complexes involving chloride anions as the leaving groups and derivatives of the plant hormone kinetin (N6-furfuryladenine) as the N-donor carrier ligands, as promising drugs for the treatment of various types of tumours, such as osteosarcoma, breast or ovarian carcinomas. The principal advantage of the patented compounds lies in their high activity even against cancer cells which are resistant to the treatment by the clinically used platinum-based drug cisplatin.
