Our research is focused on development of the measurement procedure for determination of trivalent and hexavalent chromium in joint fluid and whole blood in individuals with joint arthroplasty containing chromium alloy. A newly developer procedure combines an innovative sample preparation and hyphenation of liquid chromatography with ICP-MS. This procedure allows determination of different chromium species. Our research revealed that about 20% of chromium present in joint fluid is in the case of individuals with arthroplasy in hexavalent form.
